AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) Robotics Competition: Annual Robotics Competition held this year on the 26th of June at the ESOFT College of Eng & Tech was based on the AGV technology that is widely used in automated material transport systems in many modern industries. Fully autonomous prototype systems were supposed to reach the final destination and stop after moving at a constant speed along guided pathways.
Robotic vehicle had to encounter the challenge of staying in the pathway unto the final destination while negotiating sharp curvatures travelling at constant speeds. Hence, the designer had to set the speed and sensory arrangements in a way appropriate for smooth trajectory tracking while ensuring that the vehicle gathers sufficient momentum to overcome an inclined road section before the final destination. Fastest robot who successfully reached the destination in the shortest duration of time was declared the winner of this year’s competition.
